About Trevor Tucker

Trevor Tucker’s journey began in the vibrant suburb of Kew, where he spent his childhood playing rounders, cricket, and footy with neighbours and racing homemade “billy carts.” His early love for sports led him to become an avid supporter and lifelong member of the Geelong Football Club.

Selected for an experimental rural school program within Kew Primary School, Trevor was immersed in a unique learning environment where older students taught younger ones, fostering teamwork, confidence, and respect under the guidance of a remarkable teacher. This experience shaped his educational and personal development significantly.

Trevor’s athletic prowess shone brightly when he became the Victorian Under 12 hop, step, and jump (now triple jump) champion, setting a record that stood unchallenged for 25 years. His end-of-year family camping trips in Northeast Victoria introduced him to Niall Kelly, a beloved local figure who inspired Trevor’s first novel, *Ned Kelly’s Son*, decades later.

After his family moved to Blackburn South, Trevor attended Burwood Technical School, where he excelled academically, earning dux honours for three consecutive years. He started his professional journey as an instrument maker, while also completing an electrical engineering certificate. His cricketing career with Surrey Hills spanned 28 successful years, marked by senior-grade centuries and memorable moments as a part-time wicketkeeper.

Trevor’s personal life saw him marrying and settling in Mooroolbark, playing baseball with Bundoora, and welcoming two children, Shelley and Callum. His career evolved as he worked with an American process control company in Queensland and later as a design engineer with Queensland Alumina, forming lasting bonds with a local family.

Following a separation from his wife, Trevor took sole care of his children until they pursued their own paths. His career progressed with roles in security system upgrades and the design and manufacture of on-line process analytical systems for the oil and gas industries, leading to numerous international trips. Eventually, he co-founded a successful business, securing major contracts with industry giants before retiring and selling the company to his employees.

Retirement led Trevor to Sale, where he supported his sister on her farm and eventually discovered his passion for writing. Inspired by renowned Australian authors like Tony Park, Judy Nunn, Peter Watt, and Di Morrissey, Trevor embarked on his writing journey, crafting unique and compelling narratives. A transformative experience at a “Writer’s Safari” in Zimbabwe, hosted by Tony Park, further fuelled his ambition and honed his skills.

Today, Trevor Tucker channels his rich life experiences and storytelling talent into creating captivating novels that resonate with readers, reflecting his belief in alternate takes and surprising outcomes within the tapestry of great stories.
